Blockchain technology allows most cryptocurrencies to exist as “trustless” forms of transactions. How Does Cryptocurrency Work?Ĭryptocurrencies are various forms of digital money that are usually based on blockchain technology. Cryptocurrency can be used to pay for purchases online without going through an intermediary, such as a bank, or it can be held as an investment. 1, 2023.Ĭryptocurrency is a form of currency that exists solely in digital form. *Market caps and pricing sourced from, current as of 1:31 p.m. At its peak in 2018, TRX spiked as high as $0.2245, for a gain of 11,715% in a matter of months. TRON was founded in 2017, and TRX was initially valued at $0.0019 per token. TRX is the platform’s native cryptocurrency, which powers its proof-of-stake consensus algorithm. Much like Solana, TRON is a blockchain designed to run smart contracts and other DeFi applications. When it launched in 2020, SOL’s price started at $0.77. SOL, Solana’s native token, powers the platform. Solana (SOL)ĭeveloped to help power decentralized finance ( DeFi) uses, decentralized apps (DApps) and smart contracts, Solana runs on a unique hybrid proof-of-stake and proof-of-history mechanisms to process transactions quickly and securely. Cardano also works like Ethereum to enable smart contracts and decentralized applications, which ADA, its native coin, powers.Ĭardano’s ADA token has had relatively modest growth compared to other major crypto coins. This method expedites transaction time and decreases energy usage and environmental impact by removing the competitive, problem-solving aspect of transaction verification in platforms like Bitcoin. Somewhat later to the crypto scene, Cardano (ADA) is notable for its early embrace of proof-of-stake validation. Without further ado, here are some of the best scenes in Ghostbusters (spoilers ahead) and details about where they were filmed in real life. Lenox Hill, Manhattan is also listed as one of the filming locations. The production team also filmed some of the scenes at Stages 12, 15, 16, and 18 within the Warner Brothers Burbank Studios. The team spent four weeks shooting in the Big Apple before moving production to Los Angeles for another 9 weeks. Other iconic locations that were featured in the film include the Manhattan Bridge, Madison Avenue, Times Square, The Rockefeller Center, and the East River. In New York, the cast and crew filmed at several iconic locations including Central Park, Columbus Circle, and the Lincoln Centre. While the ghostbusting trio establish their phenomenally successful business in New York, actual filming took place between the cities of New York and Los Angeles. The Ghostbuster production process started in October 1983 and filming wrapped in 1984. The Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in 2015. The Ghostbusters production also earned several accolades, starting with the Ray Parker Jr. Even with Columbia Pictures unsure about greenlighting the $30 million budget, the production did exceptionally well at the box office and raked in $282.2 million on its initial run. It turns out that their apartment building functions as a conduit to another realm, and after rescuing the pair, the ghostbusting trio is hailed as the city’s heroes. In their quest to rid New York City of the supernatural scourge, the three, Peter Venkman (Murray), Egon Spengler (Ramis), and Ray Stantz (Aykroyd) establish a “ghost vanquishing” business. The premise centers on a group of eccentric parapsychology professors and their experiences battling paranormal threats. Following Belushi’s untimely death, Ramis stepped in to assist with the rewrite. Released in 1984, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis star in the supernatural comedy.ĭrawing from his fascination with spirituality and psychic lore, Aykroyd conjured up the project envisioning himself and John Belushi as the leads. Meanwhile, the Eagles ended a 14-year hiatus in 1994 and toured with Schmit even though Meisner had played on all but one of their earlier studio albums. Schmit, remained with the group over the following decades, along with Henley, Walsh and Frey, who died in 2016.Īs a solo artist, Meisner never approached the success of the Eagles, but did have hits with "Hearts On Fire" and "Deep Inside My Heart" and played on records by Walsh, James Taylor and Dan Fogelberg among others. His objections during a Knoxville, Tennessee, concert in the summer of 1977 so angered Frey that the two argued backstage and Meisner left soon after. His departure, ironically, was touched off by the song he cowrote and was best known for, "Take It to the Limit."Ī shy Nebraskan torn between fame and family life, Meisner had been ill and homesick during the "Hotel California" tour (his first marriage was breaking up) and was reluctant to have the spotlight for "Take It to the Limit," a showcase for his nasally tenor. Leadon, an old-fashioned bluegrass picker, was unhappy with the new sound and left after the 1975 album "One of These Nights." (He was replaced by another rock guitarist, Joe Walsh.) Meisner stayed on through the 1976 release of "Hotel California," the band's most acclaimed record, but was gone soon after. Led by singer-songwriters Henley and Frey, the Eagles were initially branded as "mellow" and "easy listening." But by their third album, the 1974 release "On the Border," they had added a rock guitarist, Felder, and were turning away from country and bluegrass. Although chastised by many critics as slick and superficial, the Eagles released two of the most popular albums of all time, "Hotel California" and "Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975)," which with sales at 38 million the Recording Industry Association of America ranked with Michael Jackson's "Thriller" as the No. "His vocal range was astonishing, as is evident on his signature ballad, 'Take It to the Limit.'"Įvolving from country rock to hard rock, the Eagles turned out a run of hit singles and albums over the next decade, starting with "Take It Easy" and continuing with "Desperado," "Hotel California" and "Life In the Fast Lane" among others. "Randy was an integral part of the Eagles and instrumental in the early success of the band," the Eagles' statement said. Meanwhile, Randy Meisner had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had severe issues with alcohol, according to court records and comments made during a 2015 hearing in which a judge ordered Meisner to receive constant medical care.Ĭalled "the sweetest man in the music business" by former bandmate Don Felder, the baby-faced Meisner joined Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Bernie Leadon in the early 1970s to form a quintessential Los Angeles band and one of the most popular acts in history. The bassist had endured numerous afflictions in recent years and personal tragedy in 2016 when his wife, Lana Rae Meisner, accidentally shot herself and died. Meisner died Wednesday night in Los Angeles of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the Eagles said in a statement. Randy Meisner, a founding member of the Eagles who added high harmonies to such favorites as "Take It Easy" and "The Best of My Love" and stepped out front for the waltz-time ballad "Take It to the Limit," has died, the band said Thursday. Too many strikeouts for Ragin' CajunsĪs good as Nezuh was, the Cajuns had a hard enough time keeping their strikeouts down as well. The Ragin Cajuns lost to Southern Miss, 6-2, in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship game Sunday, coming up short for the conferences automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. JSON is a syntax for exchanging and storing data over the network. JSON(Javascript Object Notation) is a standard format to transfer the data as a text that can be sent over a network. From the above and the reference implementation it can be seen that as long as the scanner used by the JSON decoder is the default, arbitrary code will not be executed, it is probably possible by using a custom decoder through the use of its init parameters to instead make it execute arbitrary code, but save that I dont think so. Putting your company’s purpose at the foundation of your relationships with your stakeholders is critical to long-term success. They don’t want to hear us, as CEOs, opine on every issue of the day, but they do need to know where we stand on the societal issues intrinsic to our companies’ long-term success. The stakeholders your company relies upon to deliver profits for shareholders need to hear directly from you – to be engaged and inspired by you. Your company’s purpose is its north star in this tumultuous environment. It’s never been more essential for CEOs to have a consistent voice, a clear purpose, a coherent strategy, and a long-term view. That is why your voice is more important than ever. Employees are increasingly looking to their employer as the most trusted, competent, and ethical source of information – more so than government, the media, and NGOs. In this environment, facts themselves are frequently in dispute, but businesses have an opportunity to lead. They may hijack your brand to advance their own agendas. Political activists, or the media, may politicize things your company does. This polarization presents a host of new challenges for CEOs. And the relationship between a company, its employees, and society is being redefined.ĬOVID-19 has also deepened the erosion of trust in traditional institutions and exacerbated polarization in many Western societies. Innovative companies looking to adapt to this environment have easier access to capital to realise their visions than ever before. Most notably, it’s dramatically accelerating how technology is reshaping life and business. It’s creating new businesses and destroying others. It’s changing how people work and how consumers buy. The pandemic has turbocharged an evolution in the operating environment for virtually every company. Make no mistake, the fair pursuit of profit is still what animates markets and long-term profitability is the measure by which markets will ultimately determine your company’s success.Īt the foundation of capitalism is the process of constant reinvention – how companies must continually evolve as the world around them changes or risk being replaced by new competitors. It is through effective stakeholder capitalism that capital is efficiently allocated, companies achieve durable profitability, and value is created and sustained over the long-term. In today’s globally interconnected world, a company must create value for and be valued by its full range of stakeholders in order to deliver long-term value for its shareholders. It is not “woke.” It is capitalism, driven by mutually beneficial relationships between you and the employees, customers, suppliers, and communities your company relies on to prosper. It is not a social or ideological agenda. Stakeholder capitalism is not about politics. This is the foundation of stakeholder capitalism. Time and again, what they all share is that they have a clear sense of purpose consistent values and, crucially, they recognise the importance of engaging with and delivering for their key stakeholders. Over the past three decades, I’ve had the opportunity to talk with countless CEOs and to learn what distinguishes truly great companies. When my partners and I founded BlackRock as a startup 34 years ago, I had no experience running a company. |
